Public Talk by Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria
Co-Chair of the Malaysian CSO-SDG Alliance

Wawasan Open University (WOU), through the School of Humanities & Social Sciences (SHSS), is organising a free public talk under its WOU Lecture Series titled “Peace Among Communities & Nations in Asia: Four case studies”.

The speaker is Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria, the former Professor of Public Advocacy at the Institute of Ethnic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He is currently the Co-Chair of the Malaysian CSO-SDG Alliance and Head of the Secretariat, All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM) on SDGs.

Dr Denison will present the case studies of Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Thailand to draw lessons for peace building in Asia, since threats to peace among the communities will have an impact on the socio-economic well-being of the region. He will also draw from the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) framework, especially on Goal 16 on Peace and Goal 17 on Partnerships.
